Settle photo of the season with a rubric, not a room vote
Your staff shoots hundreds of frames a season. Run a scored photo contest — composition, technical quality, creativity, visual impact — and walk out of one class period with a ranked, defensible result and a written reason for every frame.
No credit card • 30 students • 2 free contests every month

- a staff vote, which is a popularity contest with a camera
- 400 frames from Friday night and one adviser
- a yearbook credit when a senior needs portfolio proof
You can have
- a rubric ranking instead of a show of hands
- the whole take scored in a single pass
- a verified award page a portfolio can cite
How it works with MeritBoard
- 1
Create a Photography contest with a close date
Give it a theme — homecoming, student life, sports action — and a window that ends before the layout deadline.
- 2
Staff upload their take
Photographers submit by link, no accounts. Set grade divisions if your first-year shooters should not be up against your editors.
- 3
The computer scores every frame
Composition, technical quality, creativity, visual impact — each with a written rationale you can read aloud in a critique.
- 4
You verify, publish, and hand out certificates
Reorder if you disagree, then Confirm & Publish. Share cards and a results page come with it.
Before you start
Can I still overrule the ranking?
Always. The computer’s ranking is a draft. You reorder and verify — nothing goes public until you click Confirm & Publish.
Are the photos used to train AI models?
Never. Frames are sent to our providers only to score that contest and are never used to train or improve any model.
What about photos of other students?
Results start private and any student can be excluded from public display. Publish only what your school’s consent rules allow.
Does this work for a small photo club?
Yes — the free plan covers 30 students and two contests every month, which is a club-sized season.
